Xero wins big at the Accounting Excellence Software Awards
A big thank you to UK accounting firms
Recently I had the pleasure of joining the who’s who of the accounting industry at the UK’s Accounting Excellence Software Awards. Even better I had the honour of joining my fellow Xeros on stage to accept the Small Business Accounting, Practitioners’ Choice Award.
The next day, back at the London office, a group of us were reflecting on what an awesome achievement this really was.
That’s because this award is extra special as the winners were chosen by the UK’s accounting practices.
Accountants are the lifeblood of the Xero business and this award is more than just a recognition of our software; it acknowledges our amazing community of accounting firms. They are the real heroes here, making Xero the product that it is, helping accountants and their clients do better business. These are the people who have paved the way and are helping small businesses navigate the stormy waters ahead with Making Tax Digital on the horizon.
It was also a big night for our leader here in the UK, Gary Turner, who received an award: Accounting Excellence Software and Technology Pioneer of the Year. Gary has become one of the industry’s most outspoken leaders, unafraid to challenge the establishment on issues such as Making Tax Digital and small business productivity, as well as being committed to delivering innovative accounting solutions.
About the Accounting Excellence Software Awards
Winning both of these Accounting Excellence Software Awards is a significant achievement for Xero. The awards are based on the UK’s biggest independent business software survey, and winners are determined using customer feedback based on a survey of over 12,000 individual accounting practices across the country.
The ongoing software survey captures the experiences and sentiments of accountants and bookkeepers. This is valuable information that provides the industry with a real opportunity to assess what is happening in the profession.
One key insight from the survey data is the impact that the government’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) initiative has had on the software industry. Since George Osborne first suggested the idea in his 2015 Budget speech, ratings for the third-party apps that plug into accounting engines more than doubled, cloud accounting has doubled, and expenses capture apps and practice management software ratings also increased.
Thank you
Our mission is to connect small businesses with their advisors, banks, government and each other. Businesses are more successful with an accountant and 90% of Xero’s subscribers are connected to a Xero accounting partner.
Ultimately, these awards recognise that Xero is more than just accounting software. It’s a community of 700 apps and tens of thousands of developers and we have no plans to take the foot off the pedal. Thank you to the British accounting industry for this recognition.
