Released
Profit & Loss at a glance on mobile
Get a quick view of your profit and loss, and how your income and spending are broken up, from your mobile dashboard. It’s now easy to know if you’re breaking even or making a profit from wherever you are.
Profit & Loss at a glance – Add % comparison to prior corresponding period
At the same time, it can be difficult to understand quickly whether the profit at a glance information for a given period is good, not so great or unexpected. That’s why we’ve also added a percentage comparison period, to provide context for the information. The amounts for Profit at a glance, both on the mobile dashboard and Profit screen, now include a percentage comparison to the amounts at the same time in the previous month, quarter or year.
Xero HQ: Staff notifications
With this latest Xero HQ release, practice team members get notified when they have a new client or their client access has been updated in HQ.
XPM & WFM: Remove from WIP list and update job state in bulk
The hassle of jobs not being updated and removed from the job manager menu once complete has just gotten easier with this latest release. You can now select jobs (individually or in bulk) and click “Remove” from the top of the WIP Manager menu. This removes the job from the invoice list and writes off any unbilled WIP on the job, meaning the job manager menu stays nice and tidy instead of creating clutter with jobs which should be archived.
Percentage of Sales
You can now calculate percentages based on tracking and budget columns. This means that those businesses who use tracking to report their financial performance separately for each department can take advantage of percentage columns too. The ability to view your financial data as a percentage will help you digest it a little better, with smaller numbers and the context built in. For your advisor it’ll be easier to review the accounts for errors and offer you valuable business advice. Learn more about the release on the blog.
Customer Self-Reactivations
Until now, you weren’t able to reactivate your deleted or cancelled Xero account. So for those of you who stop using Xero for a while; maybe you’re planning on travelling around the word for a year and you need to cancel your subscription for that period! – We aim to make it easier for you to jump back on board with us and subsequently become an active Xero customer once again. With that, we’ve added a Reactivate button for Cancelled account on the Dashboard in MyXero which will give you access to your account again immediately.
GoCardless direct debit payments (New Zealand)
Businesses in New Zealand can now accept direct debit payments through GoCardless for Xero, to get your ad-hoc and recurring invoices paid more reliably, and transactions automatically marked as paid in Xero. Encourage your customers to set up automatic payments by direct debit through GoCardless for recurring invoices and see your payments on time; keeping your cash flow in good shape. Learn more about Xero + GoCardless on our blog.
Xero Projects: Staff Cost Rates Header Menu
You’ll now find your Project Staff Cost Rates settings page under the Projects tab, in the header, as ‘Staff cost rates’. Whereas previously you could find this under Projects Settings. This change should make it a little easier for you to find it in the navigation.
Xero Expenses: multi-page support for PDF receipts
Sometimes receipts have extra information that falls on more than one page, and we know it’s frustrating to have to edit them to fit one page when you’re processing claims in the new Expenses.
Not to worry, when processing claims in new Expenses, you’ll now be able to drag multi-page PDF receipts into a claim and the extra pages will show without any trouble.
Payroll update
Improved Pay and Leave settings (NZ)
To reduce errors and help you be compliant, we’ve released some improvements to the Pay and Leave settings in Payroll for New Zealand. This will make set up more intuitive and explain how Xero calculates leave based on the information entered.
Bulk upload employee details (NZ)
Save time and effort when setting up multiple employees in Payroll, by uploading a single spreadsheet with their details. You can use your own file or our downloadable template to automatically populate the fields associated to their personal details.
Direct Integration to the largest pension provider (UK)
Submission errors can now be reduced and time saved filing pensions with the new direct integration into NEST. This also means easier set up, more control of the filing process, with full Xero Customer Support.
New TPP-friendly CSV file (UK)
To help with the manual filing process, we’ve added a TPP-friendly CSV file on the Pensions Filing page. This is a time saver whilst we’re rebuilding the connection to TPP.
Coming soon
Email to Bills – pre-populated fields
Currently in BETA, and continuing to incrementally release to subscribers over October, Email to Bills will reduce the time you spend on admin by extracting the key information from text PDF bills and automatically populating the; total, bill date, due date (if specified explicitly), reference and supplier fields to create a bill entry in Xero – simply forward your bills to Xero and we’ll take care of the rest.
Keep an eye out for this more efficient way to manage your bills and ensure an accurate, complete, real-time view of cash flow.
Add & edit bills on mobile
Soon, you can easily add and edit bills on your mobile. Entering bills into Xero helps you get a more complete picture of upcoming costs, which makes making decisions relating to cash flow much easier.
Projects Trello PowerUp
Soon, you’ll be able to track time in projects directly from tasks within Trello. Keep an eye out for the release for more information.
Uncoded transactions report
Coming up shortly, as you’re bulk downloading the uncoded transaction report, you can email the bulk download from Xero. The email functionality makes it more efficient for you to collaborate with clients by saving the steps of downloading, attaching to email, then emailing the report.
Bulk upload employee details into Payroll (AU & UK)
UK and Australia will soon have the ability to set up multiple employees in Payroll, by uploading a single spreadsheet with their details. In addition to saving time and effort when setting up, you can use your own file or our downloadable template to automatically populate the fields associated to their personal details.
Single Touch Payroll – Allowance categorisation (AU)
STP reporting will soon have improved insights for allowances, through another level of categorisation. Allowances are currently reported with a category of “Other” but more options will be available with this release.
Public holidays as separate line items on payslips (AU)
Payroll admins will have more choice on the level of information presented on a payslip, with the ability to show public holidays within that pay period. This detail can help increase transparency and confidence employees are being paid what they are owed.
Payroll timesheet integration with Xero Projects in Australia (NZ & UK)
With the new Xero Payroll and Xero Projects integration you will be able to transfer time which is recorded in a project directly into Xero Payroll. This avoids duplication, increases accuracy and ensures that you and your staff only record your time once in one place. The Xero Projects and Payroll integration is already available for customers using both add-ons in Australia, with New Zealand and United Kingdom in development and coming soon.
