Payroll updates
Pay History (US) | With the US Onboarding flow, we addressed the needs of those who have never set up payroll or processed a pay run before. With this Pay History release we aim to assist payroll admins in converting from another payroll provider in the current calendar year. |
Multi-Local Taxation for Alabama and Kentucky Payroll | We’ve improved how Xero accrues earnings and calculates local taxes across multiple work locations in Alabama and Kentucky. Previously, we calculated local taxes only for work performed at the employee’s primary work location, which could cause subsequent tax issues for both the employee and employer. |
End of fiscal year compliance and improvements (UK) | First, we are making it very intuitive for our UK payroll users to elect or change the Employment Allowance for the current and new tax year. We are also working on a new feature that will enable customers to submit an Earlier Year Update or (EYU). Finally, we are automatically uplifting 2017/18 tax codes. UK Payroll users can view the code previously used for an employee and what we changed it to. The code can then be modified if necessary. These enhancements, in addition to updating all payroll reports, will create an excellent year end experience for our UK payroll users to close out the year smoothly. |
Mobile updates
Xero for Android – Quotes
You’re now able to mark quotes as accepted and declined, so you can manage your workflow more effectively with your Xero mobile app.
90 Day Window – What’s Coming
Find & Recode enhancements
With the latest Find & Recode enhancements coming out in May, you’ll be able to easily recode manual journals. It means you can search for transactions by bank account, invoice number or the reference. Cleaning up accounts in Xero will be done faster than ever before.
Create bank rules
Soon you can create a bank rule to transfer money between bank accounts. So next time you do a bank transfer between 2 accounts in your Xero, these will auto code for you. Simply hit ‘OK’ and move on.
Edit check styles and print checks (US)
Next month Xero will give you the ability to easily adjust where check elements get printed to suit the layout. Additionally you can print checks from scratch or onto pre-existing check stock.
Report templates for agricultural sector (NZ)
In the near future, Xero will allow for more customised reporting templates for the NZ agri sector and ultimately for better farm management reporting. Our partners will be able to add even more value to their agri clients and improve farming decisions. This enhancement will allow businesses to get into the detail as this will be surfaced to a higher standard.
Reporting enhancements
In the near future Xero allows you to switch between reports while in layout editor mode as well as recover any changes in case you get kicked out of the layout editor view. Moreover, you’ll be able to move accounts in and out of the report’s Cash Balances group.
Business lookup & indicators of credit risk (AU & NZ)
Coming very soon, you’ll be able to add a business in Xero using their business name, street address, postcode, business location, or ABN/NZBN. Xero will pre-populate the business’s contact information and provide a view of their credit risk (AU) or payment risk (NZ) inside Xero, this information is powered by Equifax. Have a read of our latest guest blog from Equifax to learn more about managing late payments and how credit reports can help with getting paid on time.
Import Excel into budgets
With this upcoming release, you’ll be able to import an Excel spreadsheet into your budgets. This will add more flexibility to budgets, which subsequently allows for more information in real time allowing for you to make more informed decisions.
Attach files to quotes (Android)
Soon you’ll be able to attach files to your quotes in Android, providing a more complete picture to a quote being sent to a customer.
Client management enhancements in Xero HQ
In May we’re making some improvements to the way you work with clients in Xero HQ. Soon you will be able to merge clients records to remove duplicates and convert Xero organisations that you’ve been invited into to clients records in Xero HQ so that you can manage them within your practice while leaving the subscription with your client.
Fixed Assets enhancements (Australia)
With the upcoming Fixed Assets release, import & export template files will expand to include Tax and Pooling information for organisations that currently have access to Tax Reporting in AU; new organisations and any organisations with less than 20 registered assets.
You will be able to use this file to update draft assets with the new details, as well as create new assets with the Tax and Pooling information. We will also update Bulk Registering so that you can register pooled assets, even when doing so will result in the pool being recalculated in the previous financial year.
