Latest product news – August 2020
There’s no doubt that automation is the key to efficiency when it comes to managing your finances, and those of your clients. Over the past month, we’ve released a number of features that reduce those time-consuming manual tasks – like sending emails to customers, managing duplicate transactions and tracking your time on projects – so you can focus on the things that matter.
New features
Automate your marketing with Mailchimp – global
If you’re on a Xero Premium plan, you can now sync your Xero smart lists to Mailchimp in real-time. This means you can send pre-populated emails based on set triggers, such as overdue invoices and payment confirmations. No code or design required – just customise our templates and you’re away.
Manage duplicate transactions in bank feeds – global
We know it can be tricky to identify and fix duplicate transactions in your bank feeds. That’s why our team has built a new report to identify these duplicates in Xero. The duplicate statement lines report runs a search for duplicates. This is a big time saver and will ensure your balance in Xero accurately reflects your bank account.
Search for formula components – global
Some reports and templates have a long list of components which can be used to create formulas. Instead of scrolling through the list, you can now use the search functionality to quickly find the option you want. This makes it faster and easier to create the reports you need.
See your project profitability at a glance – global
We’ve introduced a new dashboard in Xero Projects, which gives you at-a-glance visibility of the profitability of each project. You can now see your total profit margin, as well as everything you’ve invoiced and all costs associated with the project. The dashboard also shows any outstanding invoices, as well as how you’re tracking against your project estimate.
Track time based on your location – global
Location-based time tracking is now available for Xero Projects Android users. You can now suggest entries for a project, based on the time spent at a particular location. This means no more manual entries or forgotten hours that you and your staff have spent on the job, so you can invoice your clients more accurately.
Export staff list and certifications in Xero HQ – global
Our new ‘export staff list‘ button in Xero HQ gives practice admins fast access to staff information. This ensures they are staying up-to-date with their certifications and security measures (such as enabling two-factor authentication). The new functionality is available in the overflow menu on the staff list page in Xero HQ.
Manage custom reports in WorkflowMax and XPM – global
Managing custom reports can be hard and time consuming. To make things easier for you, we’ve released a new feature that allows you to search and filter custom reports in WorkflowMax and Xero Practice Manager (XPM). You’ll save time finding and assigning custom reports, and can quickly take bulk actions such as removing old and duplicate reports.
Attach a file to receive money – global
You can now attach files when reconciling ‘receive’ money transactions in the Xero Accounting app. This helps you improve record keeping and makes it easy to trace the original source of your bank transactions.
Stay safe while using Xero – global
We’re continuing to roll out our new security platform called Identity. If you use the Xero Expenses and XeroMe apps*, you’ll notice an update to your login page if you have auto-updates enabled. If not, the next time you access the apps, you’ll be prompted to download the new version. The new-look login page will be gradually rolled out to all other Xero users in the months to come.

Set up Stripe in a few clicks – global
We’ve made it faster and easier to accept payments through Stripe. If you don’t already have a Stripe account, you can now enjoy a more streamlined setup experience in Xero. It only takes a few minutes and allows customers to pay you on the spot with their preferred credit or debit card.
