Welcome to Humans of Xero! It’s an occasional series about some of the awesome humans that work at Xero. We’ll talk a bit about their work, their passions, some fascinating facts, and what makes them tick.

We’d like to introduce you to Herman Man, the Vice President for Product in the Americas. We had a chat to him about life in and out of Xero.

Tell us about your role

I run our Product and Ecosystem/Banking partnerships for the Americas. While Xero is a global company, with benefits of scale by having one platform, there are nuanced regional requirements. That’s where my role fits in. I make sure we leverage our global platform while also ensuring we have the best product and partnerships in the Americas.

Why did you decide to join Xero?

I was instantly attracted to Xero’s purpose as well as the incredible people and passion that forms the heart of this company. Our purpose is to help small business succeed and our goal is to empower them to do their best work and thrive. All Xeros are aligned and inspired by this one purpose and it’s amazing to experience how we all work together to make this happen for our customers and partners.

I was also keen to join an organisation where the CEO was a real visionary. In the early days of Xero, Rod identified technology trends and applied them to accounting for small business. It was a game changer. He’s unrelenting when it comes to innovation and I look forward to seeing what’s ahead for Xero as we lead the way with machine learning and AI, which is sure to revolutionize the industry.

What’s it like working at Xero?

Xero is a fast growing company and I love the excitement, energy and opportunity that this brings. Being in the Americas, we’re a newer business and we have a startup mentality of being innovative, nimble and we move fast. It’s part of our DNA.

I’m fortunate to lead an amazing team of people in Product and Partnership. They are all really passionate and work tirelessly to build the best products and ensure alignment across our ecosystem and banking partners.

I’m a technology enthusiast, gadget lover, runner and reader. I was born and raised in Toronto and currently living in the Bay Area. I’m a proud father of two sons and I’m married to the most amazing woman you could ever ask for.
