Hawke’s Bay Office Opening
In late 2016 we announced Xero would be opening a third New Zealand office in Hawke’s Bay. Initially we wanted to attract and recruit team members into our Customer Experience (CX) team before looking to see if further other opportunities could be created in the region. Our Hawke’s Bay office now joins five global CX sites including Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Denver (US) and Milton Keynes (UK).
Our new Xero office is located in the Tech Hub development in Ahuriri, Napier. The Tech Hub is a beautifully converted old wool store. It has shared spaces and services for communities of start ups, entrepreneurs and freelancers. Last night we welcomed 80+ local Xero Accounting Partners and community members. Among them were Mayor Bill Dalton, Banking Partners, The Hawkes’ Bay Chamber of Commerce, and other local companies who have been long time supporters of Xero.
Coming a full circle
As Rod spoke to the crowd we all realised the significance of Xero. A large global company being able to to complete a full circle and come back to support growth in the founder’s hometown is impressive. It was a great moment supported by a few words from Mayor Bill Dalton and Stuart Nash. They both acknowledged Xero for leading the way. They also emphasised the impact Xero has had in showing other private and government enterprises that through technology there are no barriers to success in the provinces.
Tech creating opportunity in regional areas
It’s great to be able to demonstrate to New Zealand and the world that you can tap into local talent in the regions. Because of advancing technology, people who want to progress their career and live in a beautiful place with a great life balance can now do so outside of big cities. We’ve also been able to support two existing Xero’s to relocate from Auckland down to Hawke’s Bay. Both of whom are now looking at the housing market and getting ready to make an offers on houses. This is something they would never be able to contemplate living in Auckland. We’ll share more about Andrew and Marc’s experience relocating soon.
Our guests marvelled at what our internal Facilities Team have achieved within our 750m2 area. The space is accentuated by high ceilings, beautiful oiled wooden floors and lots of natural light. Light floods in from the big south facing windows and skylights in the saw tooth roof. Five meeting rooms, including a training room are each set up with in-room technology. This connects us globally to all of our offices with the click of a button using Google hangouts. Additionally the CX team are able to enjoy sitting at one of our 68 sit-to-stand desks or relax on brightly coloured soft furnishings. These create unique and casual meeting spaces. A playstation and pops of colour throughout the space keep the area fun. Posters, coloured planter pots and wall graphics also add to this modern and comfortable environment.
