What an incredible 10 weeks it has been for the Xero team on the road. We’ve put on 39 events and visited 20 locations, travelling around the country to spend time with our community.

We’ve talked to more accountants and bookkeepers than ever before at our Roadshows this year. We’re thrilled to be able to give such a large portion of our industry new insights and tools to help small businesses succeed.

This year’s theme was ‘Communities of Purpose’. A strong community is born out of a collective, shared purpose. We are in a privileged position to have an impact not just on a small business, but the owner of that small business, their life and family.

Over the past couple of months, we’ve loved hearing about your small businesses, or your clients’. It’s inspiring to see so many Kiwis living their passion through running their own business. And it’s even better to hear how we can help make their lives easier.

Preparing for the future

At the Roadshow, we focused on how the community is changing for accountants and bookkeepers. We asked our attendees how much do they really know about their clients, current and future?

The small business demographic is changing as the new generation of business owners enter the market. As accountants and bookkeepers you’ll no doubt be starting to see younger, digitally savvy business owners with big ambitions.

We talked about how most of these upcoming small business owners have big dreams, but may only have a few months of cash. Therefore they need those early headlights from advisors, otherwise their dream could be gone.

We shared some great tools with the audience on how to prepare for the future. Not only how they can be the best advisors to this new group of business owners, but how they can support their own people. Building a sustainable growth strategy is completely dependent on the strength of your people.

Continue your learning

Our closing message of the Roadshow is that technology will only be able to do so much. Nothing will ever take away the importance of human connection and insight. We hope you can take what you learnt at the Roadshow and use it to improve the way you run your practice or help your clients succeed.
