That’s a wrap on Xero Roadshow Canada 2019

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve officially wrapped our third round of Xero Roadshow events in Canada. We’ve loved being on the road the last few weeks getting to connect with cloud accounting leaders in 13 cities across the country. Looking at the numbers, it’s been our biggest roadshow in Canada to date where we welcomed 2,000 attendees, 20 of our app partners and partnered with CIBC to sponsor our events.

The accountants and bookkeepers in Canada make up a special community that want to transform the way business is done and we’re proud to partner together on this journey to create the future of cloud accounting. Here are three key takeaways I saw from another successful year of roadshow events in Canada.

The human element matters most

One of the core values we have at Xero is #human. This value defines how we do business and how we think, and it’s all about working together to make a difference. Even with advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning, we believe it’s the human element that matters most.

We loved being able to celebrate this value with the accountant and bookkeeper community in Canada. While our roadshow events provided insights on how to operate your firm more efficiently, improve workflows, profitability and more, it was also about empowering accountants and bookkeepers to drive these changes so firms can work closer with their clients, and provide the human touch and guidance that machines can’t deliver.

Becoming trusted advisors for businesses

According to Statistics Canada, approximately half of small businesses go out of operation within five years. By contrast, data from countries where Xero is already established shows that 85% of businesses working with an accountant on the Xero platform succeed five years and longer. Accountants and bookkeepers play a critical role in driving the success of small businesses.

There’s tremendous opportunity in Canada

Since launching in Canada in May 2018, we’re thrilled to see the progress we’ve made in the region and are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. Less than 10% of businesses in North America have adopted cloud accounting, so there are plenty of opportunities for us to grow and spread the Xero love in Canada. We’ve seen these massive industry shifts in countries like Australia and New Zealand where cloud adoption is significantly higher. We know the impact we can have on small businesses and their accountants and bookkeepers, and we have a massive opportunity in front of us to change the game and help entire economies thrive.
