Xerocon London 2019: Your guide to cash flow and Open Banking
Xerocon London is a great opportunity to get to grips with emerging accounting trends, meet like-minded people and learn about the latest product updates in Xero.
Taking place on 13-14 November at ExCeL London, we’re especially excited to share our insights on cash flow and Open Banking. Both topics are key for every business, from multinational corporations to the one person enterprise, and Xerocon London provides a great forum to learn more.
Our research continues to show that month-to-month, barely half of British businesses are cash flow positive. This is a stark illustration of the widespread challenge posed to small business by tough trading conditions, late payments and limited access to capital.
Open Banking is enabling improved financial visibility for businesses and consumers. A raft of new services and applications are taking advantage of the customer data held by banks to streamline payments and access to finance.
And of course, we’re delighted that many of the banks and fintechs that provide these services are exhibiting and presenting at Xerocon.
So whether you’d like to be better placed to advise your clients on Open Banking – or just how to get paid faster, Xerocon London is the place to be.
Day one (13 November)
‘Are you jeopardising the cash flow of your clients?’ is the question that Duncan Barrigan, the VP of Product at GoCardless, will be answering on day one of Xerocon. In this session, Duncan will explore the different payment methods businesses can offer, and how they must be aligned to meet the needs of both your clients and their customers.

How ‘Becoming a trusted advisor starts with daily bookkeeping’ will be the key focus in this panel. Speakers will discuss how cash flow planning, budgeting and KPI analysis are all must-have services of a modern firm. You’ll also learn how successful firms are re-engineering their processes to deliver daily and weekly bookkeeping to their clients – drastically increasing revenue.

‘Fintech Insider Live’: 11:FS CEO David Brear and guests will touch on the day’s big product announcements and debate the most impactful apps to improve cash flow in this live recording of the Fintech Insider podcast.

Day two (14 November)
On day two,‘The platform that powers small business’ keynote will begin with Nick Houldsworth, Executive General Manager of Ecosystem at Xero, who will discuss how we’re expanding our community with financial institutions and ecosystem partners to create deeper, data-rich connections that deliver breakthrough solutions for businesses and their accountants.
Imran Gulanhuseinwala, Head Trustee of the Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE) will join on stage, and he and I will explore what’s happening in the world of bank feeds and why Open Banking is important to the UK and where it goes next.

Day two will also include a panel for the cash flow curious: ‘How to streamline client onboarding to improve cash flow and eliminate debt’. The panel will include Trent McLaren, Head of Accounting and Partnerships, Practice Ignition and discuss the causes of bad cash flow and frequent debtors within accountancy firms. You’ll also hear from leading Xero accounting and bookkeeping partners who will share how apps like Practice Ignition have helped them address their cash flow issues.

Finally, Ben Johnson, our FinTech Partnerships Manager here at Xero, will offer insights in his talk ‘Help businesses thrive with cash flow apps and best practices’. Ben knows that the biggest problem facing UK businesses is cash flow, and he’s got a solution.
In this session, he’ll introduce how Xero’s pace setting accounting partners are following a proven process using integrated apps to help their clients not only survive but thrive with their cash flow.
