Take your business from local to global with the Bricks & Clicks Roadshow: Next stop Wagga Wagga
The team behind Bricks & Clicks are on a mission. Here to help Australian businesses embrace the power of e-commerce, they’ve got their sights set on large scale change. And they won’t stop until local retailers across the country are given the tools they need to become global brands. So, they’re hitting the tarmac for the annual Bricks & Clicks Roadshow.
Studies have shown that a considerable number of Australian businesses are unprepared to take advantage of the booming global digital economy. And with close to 60 percent yet to establish an online presence, getting left behind is all too likely. As Kochie’s Business Builders host and small business expert David Koch explains, “Small brick and mortar business owners must be prepared to meet the changing retail landscape, or risk closure.”
Master your digital skills and make the move online
Together with Kochie and Pinstripe Media, Bricks & Clicks was created as a free step-by-step guide connecting Aussie retailers to the tools and resources they need to make it online. Now, in partnership with Xero and Netregistry, the team are hosting a series of free one-day events for small business owners who want to learn more about mastering all things digital.
At the first event in Melbourne, attendees received expert advice from industry leaders and business mentors who’ve already carved the way. Xero’s own Trent Innes took to the stage, explaining, “Ten years ago, Xero was a small business in it’s own right. Built on the idea that accounting could be fun (believe it or not), we’ve since grown to over 1.8 million customers across the globe.”
Proof that taking your business from manual to digital is about more than websites and social media, Kochie explained, “The first step in your digital footprint is getting your back office in order, and Xero is the perfect introduction.”
Trent says, “Xero allows you to see what your cash balance is, who owes you money and who you owe money to – which will always be the most important things to a business owner. After all, 49% of small businesses fail in the first five years in this country, and the biggest reason is cash flow.”
Learn how to harness the power of technology and boost your business
Learning about everything from how to build a loyal tribe of customers to creating content that will truly resonate, we also heard from juicing mastermind and social media guru Cinzia Cozzolino of Smoothie Bombs, Tom Griffith from healthy success story Emma & Tom’s, media mastermind Shane Wylie of Docklands Chamber of Commerce, and Jason Robinson of RBK Advisory who shared the morbidly clever story behind his side hustle, Death Gin.
For the next stop on the tour, Bricks & Clicks is coming to Wagga Wagga where host and Flying Solo editor Lucy Kippist will lead an interactive working breakfast. Panelists include myself and Emma Grant of Like Minded Bitches Drinking Wine (an active community of over 80,000 entrepreneurially minded and business savvy women who love their wine). Together with Jared Kahlefeldt of Workout Wagga and Libby Mullavey and Ali Swanston of Kindly Darling, we’ll provide tips and advice on how to make the most of digital transformation to kickstart business growth.
As Xero’s Small Business Advocate, I’m excited to help local businesses in Wagga discover the countless benefits technology can offer. Our recent research into small businesses and their attitudes towards technology found that owners were keen to embrace any digital tools that would help them work smarter or faster, but that a lack of understanding, time and resources was holding them back – and it’s high time we changed that.
The Bricks and Clicks Roadshow is also a chance to hear about issues impacting small businesses, such as new legislation like Single Touch Payroll. Come along and discover how to take your business to the next level, and stay tuned for visits to Maroochydore, Ballarat, Wollongong and Canberra.
The Bricks and Clicks Roadshow, Wagga Wagga is taking place on August 22, 2019, 7am-10am at Wagga Wagga RSL, Cnr Kincaid and Dobbs St. Register here.
