Advisor certification redesigned: 12 courses to get certified
We asked over 2,300 partners across the globe what they wanted when learning Xero. Overwhelmingly, people said they wanted the process to be more challenging and for education to be broken down into smaller chunks, around 5 to 10 minutes per lesson.
The learning that comes with advisor certification provides an excellent baseline knowledge of the entire core product, and partners told us they’ve found it immensely valuable.
So in redesigning the education for certification, we’ve taken a microlearning approach, updated the content, and created lessons that last no more than 10 minutes each.
What’s changed?
Before, to gain your advisor certification, you completed four core courses, and your choice of four electives.
Now, you complete 12 short courses on core aspects of the product from Xero HQ through to reporting. Correctly answer the assessment questions within each lesson and you’re done. There are optional hands-on practice tasks you can choose to do in the Demo Company if you want to practice and put your skills to the test too.
Not only that, but we’ve included all the time-saving tips and tricks that partners and education teams have shared with us about getting the most out of Xero.
How to get certified
The methods by which you can learn and get certified remain the same: self-paced e-learning content, live webinar and classroom sessions, as well as a fast-track option for those gurus out there.
E-learning : Complete all of the 12 courses by correctly answering the assessment questions.
Live webinar and classroom sessions: Complete two assessments of 20 questions each based on the content that’s been delivered, and get 80% of the questions correct.
Fast track: If you’ve been using Xero for a while but haven’t got around to certifying, the fast-track assessment might be for you.
Answer 30 questions about the core product and the most recent Xero updates. Get 80% or more correct and you’re automatically certified – but you only have one attempt at this assessment. If you don’t make the grade, you’ll need to complete the full certification programme.
What happens next?
Once you’ve achieved certification, it’s really easy to keep it. Just make sure you catch all four product update webinars we offer quarterly through the year. You can register for the next webinar and attend live online, or watch the recording along with previous updates.
We’ll have more exciting changes to share with you over the coming months and we’ll be redesigning all our education content to the fresh new style. If you have any suggestions for specific education you’d like to see, please pop us a comment below.
You can access the new advisor certification content on Xero U.
Good luck, and we hope you enjoy the new certification experience.
