Xerocon Melbourne: Getting the most out of your trip down under
Xerocon is just around the corner. For our Asia-based partners this means packing bags, confirming itineraries and preparing for a long flight.
On top of this, there’s a jam-packed schedule of activity. So, for our partners travelling from Asia, we’ve pulled out some of the talks and events that might be of particular interest to help you make the most of Xerocon Melbourne.
Remember that Xerocon is a great opportunity to listen to experts and leaders at the forefront of innovation. You’ll also have the opportunity to be the first in the know about game changing market developments. Make sure you take full advantage of the knowledge sharing on offer so you’re travelling home full of the ideas and connections to drive your practice and keep you ahead of the curve.
And for our Australian and New Zealand based customers, make sure you take the opportunity to make connections and build long-term cross border partnerships,
Getting started, Day 1:
9:30AM: To kick us off, Trent Innes, Managing Director of Xero New Australia and Craig Hudson, Managing Director of Xero New Zealand will be presenting ‘The Power of Us’.
Trent and Craig will give you an overview of everything that’s going on at Xero to set you up for the two days ahead. They’ll be discussing how the accounting community is driving prosperity by supporting small businesses. They’ll also give you a chance to reflect on the important work you’re doing back home.
11:15 AM: Don’t miss our Chief Partner Officer Anna Curzon on ‘Powering an efficient practice in the digital world“. She’ll be talking about the importance of ensuring your practice is efficient as we move into an increasingly digital environment.
You’ll be the first to hear about the exciting new partner products and developments to Xero HQ that are designed to help you continue to grow and digitise your business.
Breakout sessions
There are a lot of great breakout sessions taking place on Day 1, and if you’re attending with other members of your team we recommend you to ‘divide and conquer’.
If you’re alone in representing your practice then unfortunately you’ll have to pick one for each time slot – and for our Asia based partners we recommend:
2:30PM: ‘Taking clients into the cloud’. Unsure of how to fully take advantage of working in the cloud and using add-ons? Listen to how other partners have worked with cloud integrators, the benefits, challenges and opportunities.
3:30PM: ‘Unlock the power of working with apps in Xero HQ’ with Craig Little, Xero’s Product Marketing Manager. Learn about our top four apps and how they can help you run your practice, as well as what’s next for Xero HQ.
4:30PM: For the last breakout session of the day, we’ve identified ‘The global platform’ for our Asia based partners. This panel will focus on how the landscape is changing in Asia, and the opportunities for Australian and New Zealand based accountants to go ‘international’. Our Asia partners will know the benefits of working in this market, but this is a good partnership to tap into the challenges that are facing your global peers and to think about the best ways to make your own cross border connections.
Keeping up the pace, Day 2
10:00AM: Day 1 is focusing on how to harness Xero to drive efficiencies and best practice into your own business. Day 2 will look at the tools you can offer your small business clients. The first session of Day 2 from our Small Business General Manager Oliver Furniss ‘What’s new in Xero? Focus on Xero’s small business products’ does exactly what it says on the tin.
This session will cover the latest tools we’ve developed for you to better serve your existing customers, and help you attract new ones.
Breakout sessions
Another day of decisions! There are a number of breakout sessions on Day 2, so here we’ve selected the ones that we think will resonate for our Asia partners.
11:30AM: Continuing on yesterday’s theme of how to choose and use the best tools, ‘Creating your ideal software cloud stack’ is a discussion on how you can get the most out of the Xero HQ platform. Our expert panelists will tell you how they select their apps, and how their own app ecosystem evolves over time.
A good session to help you know which of our attending app partners are the most relevant for you to connect with at the conference.
12:20PM: What drives business success? Strength and size, or nimbleness and flexibility? ‘The power of small and agile firms’ will cover all the things you need to consider as a small practice or if you’re looking to start your own firm. From effective marketing to strategic planning, this session will teach you how to leverage your strengths to be as successful as the big boys.
2:30PM: And finally, the star of the show our CEO and Co-Founder Rod Drury will be giving his keynote speech to wrap up the two days event. Rod will share his thoughts on developments in the cloud, industry trends and what to look out for in Artificial Intelligence and machine learning,
And don’t leave before our Xero Awards at 3:20 PM. There we’ll be acknowledging some of our amazing accounting, bookkeeping and add-on partners – including Asia Practice of the year!
