When was the last time you flipped open the Yellow Pages or called a directory? Chances are, not recently.

Over the last 20 or so years, Google has become the defacto first port-of-call when looking for information. This includes the search for professional accounting and bookkeeping services.

When I set up BukuBuku in 2015, I used Google to suss out who my competition was for accounting and bookkeeping services in Bali. To my surprise, I was the only Xero accounting partner in Bali. This helped me realise that there was an opportunity to support both local and expat businesses here with Xero.

Google AdWords is handy for acquiring new customers

Now I’m great with accounting, but strategic marketing? Not so much. Lucky for me, my husband Philip is a total digital marketing whizz. He helped me implement a great strategy with Google AdWords. Google AdWords is an online advertising service. It’s a key channel to raise the BukuBuku profile with potential customers – and plays an important role to acquire new customers.

Once we started using AdWords, the progress we made was phenomenal. The best part was that it helped us exceed our goals without incurring an exorbitant spend – and I could test its effectiveness or pause the campaign whenever I needed to.

Google AdWords has been a total game changer for BukuBuku and I think it has really given us a competitive edge in the market.
