Since 1 July, more than one million income tax returns and business activity statements have been lodged using Xero Tax. The millionth tax return of the season was lodged by Mike Bennett of Quantum Financial Group – a firm that’s lodged more than 4,000 tax returns through Xero Tax since March 2015.

What is Xero Tax?
Xero Tax is a tax lodgement solution for accountants and bookkeepers based in Australia. Just like Xero client accounting software, it’s entirely cloud based and it uses the ATO’s newest PLS technology to lodge and submit activity statements and tax returns on behalf of clients. Xero Tax is a partner program benefit available for free to all those certified Bronze and above. It can be used standalone or integrated within Xero Practice Manager.
We’ve built a proven, stable platform with all of the major tax forms (individual, partnership, company, trust and SMSF) available for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 tax years. We are on track to release the 2017 tax forms in mid June, along with some new and exciting developments.
Xero Tax shares the single client list with Xero HQ so client data can easily be imported from the single ledger onto the activity statement or income tax return. To date, more than half of our registered agents have gone paperless and implemented e-sign for tax returns powered by Adobe.

The Australian version of Xero Tax is proudly built in Melbourne by a talented team of 25 people, many of whom are pictured above. We work closely with our trans-Tasman colleagues in Auckland; we’re currently busy developing Xero HQ and Xero Practice Manager, and reimagining the workflows and tools of accounting firms and bookkeeping practices for the next 5-10 years.
We aim to be agile and listen to our customers so we can create beautiful software based on user feedback. The team runs user groups and feedback sessions in every capital city once a quarter and you can always find our product owners working with partners via customer experience and the official social media groups for accountants and bookkeepers.
