What you need to know about Accountex
Accountex lands at ExCeL London (the same venue to host Xerocon London later this year) on 10 & 11 May… and it’s free! With over 6,500 accountancy professionals gathering for the largest accounting conference in the UK and more than 200 suppliers (including Xero) showing off the latest innovations, there’s plenty to see.
Heading down? Here’s what you need to know about one of the industry’s most highly-anticipated events.
1. There will be tons of awesome keynotes
It’s going to be hard enough to see everything you want to see at Accountex without considering the scores of keynote speakers on display. So make sure you prioritise your time to catch the right speakers as they discuss the industry’s most important issues. Here are a few keynote speakers we can’t wait to see:
• pensionsync’s Chris Deeson
• HMRC’s Jon Thompson
• Microsoft’s James Akrigg
• Xero’s Gary Turner (of course)
• NEST’s John Hale
2. It’s a great opportunity to make connections
With so many accountants and bookkeepers in the room, there’s every opportunity to make valuable connections. Make sure you take the chance to catch up with old friends, but also try to make some new ones… you never know what you could learn or which doors you could open.
Of course, there will be lots of accountancy professions but there will also be a fair few suppliers and partners at the event. Check in with the ones you use and don’t forget to come armed with questions and requirements for the year ahead. It’ll all help you to get even more value out of Accountex.
3. You won’t have time to see everything
Guess what? There’s no chance you’ll see everything that’s on offer at Accountex, so you’re going to want to pick out the exhibitors you’d like to visit ahead of time.
What’s next for your practice? It’s a good idea to have the answer to this question front of mind as you plan your way around the exhibitors. Consider your top challenges for the year (or years) ahead, paying attention to external influences like Making Tax Digital, and visit the exhibitors that might help you achieve your goals.
Take the time to get one-to-one demonstrations and seek out the details that help you choose between one supplier and the next. Some of our awesome ecosystem partners will be in the house, so go see Receipt Bank at stand 370, Microsoft at stand 152, Expensify at stand 1072 and FUTRLI (formerly CrunchBoards) at stand 1143.
Then there’s Xero. Swing by stand 350 for a drink and a chat, we’ll make sure you feel at home and can help you set up for the new financial year and by answering any enquiries you might have. In true Xero style, it’s going to be a beautiful experience.
4. There’s an app for that
The Accountex app is free for both iOS and Android, providing instant access to event information as well as the latest financial news via push notifications.
There are also a bunch of handy tools to help you keep track of expenses and the like… although we’re sure you’ve got that covered. Here’s where you can download it for Android and iOS.
Interested in joining the Xero Partner Programme? Or maybe you’re already a partner and you need some inspiration for transforming your practice.
